The Marion Historical Society was formed to discover, interpret and preserve the unique history of Marion, Iowa .

The Marion Historical Society provides many fascinating events and displays that tell the story of early Marion . Members enjoy free admission to a majority of these programs.

  • Preserving our historical community

Our facilities complement Marion 's outstanding antique stores, brick buildings, historical districts, and downtown area that make Marion a popular destination for visitors. The Marion Historical Society works in cooperation with other groups such as the Marion Preservation Commission, the Cultural and Entertainment District and the Pucker Street Historic District.

  • Supporting local events

Activities held at our facilities support community events including the Marion Arts Festival, the Marion Swamp Fox Festival and the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival.

  • Teaching our young people

Historical Society staff and volunteers work closely with teachers and youth groups to give students a glimpse into the past and to provide meaningful learning experiences.

  • Helping our community grow

Members of the society support the community's efforts to promote itself and to build jobs and business opportunities.
